Pray It Forward

Last week, I drove through Starbuck’s to use the remaining balance of a gift card I had received for my birthday.  When I arrived at the window to pay, the barista informed me that the vehicle in front of me had paid for my items!  I gotta be honest with you, this is not the norm.  In fact, I credit it to the generosity of the Christmas season and spirit!  Because the person in front of me “paid it forward”, I also returned the favor, by “paying it forward” to the vehicle behind me!

So, that is PAYING it forward, now allow me to explain to you about PRAYING it forward.

Many of our prayers revolve around the present, or the past.  “God, help me endure this trial!”  Or, “God, the Doctor’s report we received last week was not good, help us!”  What would happen if we began praying it forward.  Maybe we could even call it preventative prayers!  I’ll never forget one of the most dynamic, spiritual encounters with God I have had in my entire life, right before a significant transition.  I felt in that moment, that the deep, intercessory prayer I was experiencing had little to do with where I currently was, or where I had been, but each and every moment that passed was in preparation and anticipation for the future.

As we head into one of the last weekends of 2013, I wonder if in your time of prayer and devotion, you could fill up your spiritual reservoir with some special prayers and supplications   It’s okay…Pray It Forward.
